Cancer Fighting Diet

As researchers continue to seek a cure for cancer the focus has turned to what may be the best solution in helping to fighting cancer, one’s diet.

Many of us have put our professional lives before our health and would normally grab food on the run which at many times isn’t the healthiest. Many of us lead sedentary lifestyles coupled with bad eating habits and next to zero exercise increasing the risk of developing cancer.

Here are a few cancer fighting foods which should be incorporated in our busy lives.

Cruciferous Vegetables
Cruciferous vegetables are members of the cabbage family. Not many people enjoy cruciferous vegetables, however being innovative with their preparation might just be the right way to get them into your system. Kale, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, arugula, broccoli and wasabi are all cruciferous vegetables.

Folate-Rich Foods
This is a B-complex vitamin that can be found in various foods. Folate rich foods are not only good in helping fight cancer but is vital for pregnant women to protect their unborn from birth defects and even depression.
Folate rich foods such as green leafy vegetables like spinach and collard greens, fruits and other vegetables like beets contain substantial amounts of folate. Grains such as wheat and legumes such as lentils and kidney beans are high in the vitamin. Our everyday breakfast cereals contain anywhere between 100 and 400 micrograms of folic acid per serving.

Vitamin D

Some of the best sources of vitamin D are milk, can be found in seafood such as cod and salmon, and eggs. Walking in the sun the body can absorb up to 5000 UI of vitamin D. Fruits

Garlic
This bulb contains an immune-enhancing allium compounds which assists activity of immune cells which help in fighting cancer. These compounds indirectly help with the breakdown of substances that contribute towards occurrence of cancer. These also assist in blocking the entry of carcinogens into the cells and slowdown tumor development.
